CILOCT £150 rebate for Service personnel

Your questions answered

Following the announcement of a £150 one-off rebate for those paying Contribution in Lieu of Council Tax (CILOCT), AFF has put your questions to the MOD and we now have some answers.

Service personnel paying for Service Family Accommodation (SFA) and Substitute SFA (SSFA) rates of CILOCT on 1 April 2022, for Type A, B, C, D, DS, 5 or 5S accommodation are eligible for the rebate, which will be automatically paid through the Service person’s pay by 31 July.

The rebate is based on the SFA you were paying for on 1 April 2022, not the SFA you are living in, so if you are living in above entitlement for Service reasons, you may be eligible for the payment if your entitlement is to one of the SFA types above.

This scheme mirrors the Government initiative announced in February which gave households living in council tax bands A-D a rebate of £150 to help with the increase in the cost of living caused by rises in energy bills.

Read the MOD £150 CILOCT Rebate leaflet for more information.

    Hi Lindsey

We welcome this new information and have already put a number of questions to the MOD about how this will affect people in different situations. If you have specific questions about how this will affect you, please speak to Unit Admins in the first instance if you can, or email housingsupport@aff.org.uk for advice.

Did you get the rebate? Looking at our pay statement for this coming month it’s not on their and i’m wondering if the 25% discount is the reason for this. However I do not think it would/should prevent the tax rebate.

    Hi John,

    Thank you for your comment.

You should contact your unit Administrators who manage your pay in the first instance and if required they can escalate to the sS Housing points of contact. If you require further information please get in touch with our housing team on housingsupport@aff.org.uk

    Hope this helps
