AFF works to monitor any areas of potential disadvantage for Army families. As part of our focus on the Armed Forces Covenant, here we outline some key areas we are currently looking at:
Spousal employment overseas
AFF is aware of the increasing complexity of spouses and partners working when accompanying their soldier overseas, especially since Brexit. Issues include whether they can work remotely for a UK company, and the impact of this on tax, the Status of Forces Agreement and host nation agreements. AFF is currently investigating this and working to get answers for families.
AFF knows that families overseas can experience significant issues when trying to vote in UK elections. We have fed in evidence from our surveys on this issue and will continue to do this.
