AFF has teamed up with 11 other military charities to write an open letter to MPs, calling on them to improve the Armed Forces Bill.
Military charity sector leaders are concerned that new legal duties in the Bill do not cover the full range of issues which affect the Armed Forces community. In particular, they do not extend to national government level and do not cover issues such as employment, social care and immigration, which Army families raise with us as important issues for them.
The letter urges the Government to widen the scope of the Bill, which is currently being considered by Parliament, to meet the needs of the whole military community.
The Strengthening the Armed Forces Covenant in Law letter has been co-signed by the Royal British Legion, Poppyscotland, Cobseo – The Confederation of Service Charities, Veterans Scotland, SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, Help for Heroes, Combat Stress, Forces in Mind Trust, the Naval Families Federation, RAF Families Federation and RAFA.
