Celebrating Forces Families award winners

The second awards evening for military families took place recently in London.

The Celebrating Forces Families awards were organised to give thanks for the huge contribution that UK military families provide to the Armed Forces community.

The headline award, Inspirational Family Member of the Year, was won by Molly Williams. Molly, 10, was nominated for her fundraising efforts for the RAF Association, whilst living with type one spinal muscular atrophy.

Other winners include Rhoda Kirkpatrick, who is an Army spouse living in Canada, who won the Away from Home award for initiating activities and events to support the community.

The award for Overcoming Adversity went to Lisa Billing, who created a memorial garden in Warrington after her son, Daniel Wade, died in Afghanistan in 2012.

AFF staff Michelle Alston and Lucy Ritchie attended the awards ceremony. Lucy said: “It was fantastic to be involved with these awards. The evening really did celebrate the amazing military families we have, and it was great to hear about so many inspirational, resilient people in our Forces community and to celebrate their achievement.”
