Census 2021 – help shape support for Service veterans

For the first time in its 220-year history, the census is asking if you are an Armed Forces veteran in England or Wales.

This is important for Army families as quite a few military spouses and partners are also veterans – you only have to have served for one day.

The new question will give a better understanding of the numbers, location and age ranges of veterans to help the Government, NHS and Service charities target resources where they are needed the most and support commitments made by the Government under the Armed Forces Covenant.

The census, run by the Office for National Statistics, is a once-in-a-decade survey that gives the most accurate estimate of all the people and households in England and Wales.

Census 2021 will be the first run largely online, with households receiving a letter with a unique access code in March ahead of Census day on 21 March 2021. For more information, visit census.gov.uk.
