Extra £3m for Service children

Service children across the UK will benefit from extra £3m as the MOD Education Support Fund (ESF) has been extended for another year.

Since its launch in 2011, the fund has helped publicly funded schools, academies and free schools in the UK mitigate the effects on Service children whose parents are frequently on the move or deployed.

The Directorate Children and Young People (DCYP) has now secured £3 million from the Army top-level budget to fund an extension of the ESF for 2020/2021.

Service families are encouraged to let their children’s schools know that they can apply from Monday 1 June 2020. The application pack has been revised, and full details will be published on gov.uk shortly.

Applications from England, Scotland and Wales should be forwarded to DCYP-MOD-ESF-Mailbox@mod.gov.uk. Applications from Northern Ireland should be forwarded to RC-AWS-N-38X-0mailbox@mod.gov.uk.

Result letters will be sent out in January 2021 and payments made to successful applicants in March/April 2021.

The ESF is separate from Service Pupil Premium and more info on SPP can be found here.

For ESF queries, email DCYP-MOD-ESF-Mailbox@mod.gov.uk
