Focus on shared Army family experiences

AFF’s Chief Executive Collette Musgrave met Mrs Veena Naravane, president of the Indian Army Wives Welfare Association, in London yesterday.

Mrs Naravane and her husband, General MM Naravane, Head of the Indian Army, visited the UK, and met members of the Army and Defence community. She was accompanied at this meeting by Mrs Vineet Gill, the wife of the Indian Military Attaché, Brigadier VS Gill.

The AWWA is a voluntary organisation that provides support to the families and widows of both serving Indian Army personnel, and veterans. Although its remit is wider than the UK families federations, the meeting focused on the many shared experiences and challenges that Army families face, wherever they are.

Areas of discussion included the importance of having policies and processes which support stability for families, whether or not they are geographically mobile, and maintaining effective communication to families.

The meeting also discussed approaches to training and employment support for Army families, and Collette shared details of our Forces Families Jobs platform, which now has more than 10,000 live vacancies available as well as many training opportunities.
