Parents of three- and four-year-olds in Scotland could now benefit from 1,140 hours a year of funded childcare. Some two-year-olds are also eligible – see gov.scot/policies/early-education-and-care/early-learning-and-childcare for more details.
This is funded by the Scottish government and local authorities and works out at about 30 hours a week if taken in term time or 22 hours all year round. You can use it at nurseries, childminders or playgroups, or a mixture of these.
The expansion of funded early years childcare, originally scheduled for August 2020, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
