It seems hard to believe that it’s already been six months since the launch of Forces Families Jobs, the tri-Service employment and training platform.
One spouse has shared her job success – she is starting as a teaching assistant at a school after Easter after applying through FFJ.
She said: “I had lost interest and given up trying to look for a job but after our conversation I went home and looked on Forces Families Jobs!” See FFJ for more on her great success story.
The global reach of the platform is growing and we have seen jobs posted around the world, including in Germany, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Ascension Island and the Falkland Islands.
The number of employers advertising has grown to 500, with many uploading multiple vacancies, and the number of candidates registered has topped 1,150.
But it’s not just about employment. There has recently been an increase in training courses featured on Forces Families Jobs. For example, AWS re/Start is a training and job placement programme, launched by Amazon Web Services, to educate veterans, reservists, and their spouses on the latest software development and cloud computing technologies.
On completion of the programme, graduates are connected with AWS customers and partners, offering entry level roles such as junior network engineer. The programme accommodates differing levels of experience – even those with no previous technical knowledge can sign up.
Another recent addition is a course offered by Forces to Film, which provides discounted training for the film and TV industry.
On FFJ jobseekers can also register to create an account, upload their CV or build a CV, create job alerts and search for jobs.
Have you got a success story to share, we’d love to hear from you
