Lockdown may have affected your family’s finances due to a loss of entitlements or you may find that you are better off if you have been spending more time at home.
This July, we’re focusing on finances and making sure you have the information and support you need to ensure you are as financially fit as you can be during these testing times.
We’ll be running a quick poll on our Facebook page to find out how COVID-19 has affected your finances – for better or worse.
We’ll also be clearing up some misconceptions about benefits for Armed Forces families and offering a free webinar from the Forces Pension Society to help cut through the confusion that surrounds saving for retirement.
Throughout July, keep an eye on our social media for updates.
What’s happened in the last year?
Last year, military allowances remained a top area of enquiry. Families spoke to us about a range of allowance issues, from long-term relationships and how this relates to allowances, Continuity of Education Allowance and impacts of COVID-19, and the over-37s package, allowing us to feed your views to the policymakers.
We saw the number of enquiries about state benefits virtually double, and some of you had difficulties claiming these when moving to and from overseas.
In the last year, AFF has worked with organisations and stakeholders, including the Department for Work and Pensions and the MOD, to push for change on the issues that affect you.
We’ll continue working on your behalf to improve the outcomes for Army families.
We’re here to help
We encourage you to speak to us about any issues you are having.
