Overseas Families Survey goes live

The MOD wants to hear from Armed Forces personnel and families about their experiences of life on an overseas assignment.

Open until the end of August, the Overseas Families Safeguarding Survey 2025 focuses on a range of areas – spouse or partner employment, childcare and education, communications and safeguarding.

Defence wants to know what information and support has been helpful to you and what could be better. Feedback will be used to decide how different aspects of Service life can be improved.

Shaping policy

The results of the previous survey, taken in 2023, contributed to the launch of the new Families Hub – a portal that offers signposting to information and support on a range of issues like housing, welfare and childcare.

The survey is anonymous and open to Regular serving personnel, Reserves and families. Among the questions it asks is whether respondents knew where to access information about their new location before the move and what information would have been helpful to have before or during their assignment.

Couples can take the survey individually using the same link and on personal or MODNET devices. The closing date is 30 August.
