So, what does AFF do with my feedback anyway?…

November sees the launch of our annual Big Survey, and this year we’ll be focussing on the next contract for housing allocation and maintenance. Sick of waiting in all day for a repair person? Wish you could have more time at your move-in appointment to check the property? Want to book repair jobs online or easily keep track of them? Let us know what’s important to you and what you’d like to see included.

This is your opportunity to have your say and it’s vital you take part. Why? Because your voice is key in helping us bring about the positive changes you want to see.

You said/AFF did

Using your feedback we fought for more CAAS banding information to be made available to you rather than just a simple rating. We’ve also used your evidence overseas, where there has been an unsuccessful mirroring of the UK CAAS banding criteria. What’s more, AFF now sits on the CAAS Continuous Improvement Working Group and will be pushing for a further review of the Decent Homes criteria using your experiences. While some of this work is ongoing, it wouldn’t be possible without your initial input.

And it’s not just housing. After hearing from spouses in Kenya who were unfairly disadvantaged by rules stating you couldn’t work while posted there, we used your experiences and pushed for clarification meaning some spouses working from home for UK based companies are no longer affected. Our F&C families had put up with years of frustration using an online visa application form that wasn’t fit for purpose. We fought for Forces families to be recognised on the form, making the process easier and lessening the financial burden those families faced.

We were concerned with feedback from spouses separating from their military spouse who were struggling to access social housing due to a lack of local connection caused by their mobile lifestyle. So, we took action using your views, and challenged local authorities to exempt these spouses from that rule, already achieving some successful policy changes.
