Spring focus: education and childcare

This spring we are focusing on education and childcare and the issues that affect you as an Army family.

We aim to highlight what support is available for your children, wherever you are based in the world.

We’ll look at funding for childcare, moving schools, home-schooling and what to do if you’re not happy with the school place you’ve been given.

We’re working on your behalf

Last year we ran a childcare survey which highlighted many of the issues Army families face when accessing providers, including the impact of frequent postings on getting a place at a new setting. Families have also contacted us about difficulties accessing funded hours when moving between areas.

To increase our support in this area, we now have an Education & Childcare Assistant to help our Education & Childcare Specialist.

AFF has focused on collaborative working with key stakeholders including Defence Children Services (formerly the Directorate Children and Young People) and local education authorities. We’ll continue working on your behalf to improve outcomes for service children on the issues that affect your family.

We’re here to help

We encourage you to speak to us about any issue you are having regarding your children’s education and childcare.

Check out our webpages here and look out on our social media for info and top tips on important issues affecting your children.
