The Department for Education’s Call for Evidence

In May the Department for Education launched a call for evidence on the ‘Provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and for those who need alternative provision: how the financial arrangements work.’ At the end of last month, AFF together with the NFF and RAF FF collaborated on a joint response to this call for evidence.

We are aware that SEND alternative provision and funding are issues that significantly impact Service families and our combined response sought to highlight the key issues and challenges that can arise. We highlighted the difficulties that mobility can create such as moving across devolved administrations and local authority borders. We also highlighted difficulties with accessing funding and resources, such as EHC assessments and getting an EHCP, specialist school places and additional in school-assistance for your child. You can read our full response here.
