Serviceman Marc Johnston, who has signed up to complete an incredible cycling and running charity challenge, has been booked to appear on ITV’s This Morning in September after being featured on the Army&You website.
Marc is completing the challenge to say thanks to all those who helped his family after his wife was diagnosed with cancer.
Marc and his wife Victoria were thrilled to discover they were expecting, but Victoria became unwell and was shocked to find out that she wasn’t pregnant and was suffering from a rare form of cancer that shows up as positive on a pregnancy test.
Victoria had an operation the following day, which was unsuccessful, so she started chemotherapy and completed her last cycle in March. She has now happily been given the all-clear.
Marc is cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End, then Land’s End to Exeter in October and then completing four marathons, finishing at the Armour Centre, Bovington.
He explained: “From the day the diagnosis happened the army has allowed me to work from home so I could look after Victoria and our baby Kaitlin. The support has been second-to-none.”
Marc will be raising funds for the Cancer Treatment and Research Trust Charing Cross Branch, SSAFA, The King’s Royal Hussars Regimental Association, The Household Cavalry Regimental Association, The Royal British Legion, and the Bovington and Lulworth Welfare Fund.
