Understanding the families’ overseas experience

AFF’s Understanding Overseas 2021 survey wants to find out about your recent experiences of overseas assignments as a family.

Tell us whether you enjoyed the experience, what you found challenging and where you found the best support.

If you haven’t been on an assignment overseas, we’d like to hear the reasons why.

This survey is building on our previous surveys that we conducted in 2015 and 2018 and we’re interested in both long-term and emerging issues.

All the information you provide will help our evidence gathering to ensure that overseas issues are highlighted to key decision makers.

There have been some positive changes in the last few years, but we also know that there are some enduring issues. And we know that Service families based overseas have experienced significant challenges over the last 18 months.

We are aware that, for many of you, your personal circumstances, whether health, education, spousal employment, or your family structure, can make these assignments harder to apply for and navigate on arrival, and some families never put themselves forward for these assignments.

Complete the survey here by 8 October – we hope to hear from as many of you as possible.
