Wellbeing support for Service children in Scotland

A new mental health and wellbeing support service for Armed Forces children in Scotland has been launched by the Royal Caledonian Education Trust and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).

Your Mind Matters is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to better understand and respond to the challenges that Service children and young people face with their mental health and wellbeing.

The project has launched in response to a consultation with more than 600 young people from Armed Forces families across Scotland, where over 80% of respondents said they faced considerable challenges to mental health and wellbeing.

Many of the challenges expressed related directly to unique experiences of life within a military family, including deployment of family members, regular relocation and disruption of education and friendships.

Your Mind Matters is inviting children and young people whose parents are serving or veterans to get involved in shaping the service. For more information, see rcet.org.uk/Your-Mind-Matters/
