The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is to reduce the amount of work it does to prepare SFA for new residents because of significant pressures on defence funding.

Changes to Local Overseas Allowance (LOA) policy mean that Service personnel will now be charged for accommodation at small stations, removing the previous exemption.

Some military families may have been charged double standing meter charges while living in ‘knock-through’ homes, where two properties have been joined together to form a single property.

The Minister for Defence People and Families, Dr Andrew Murrison, has announced that the elements of the Modernised Accommodation Offer relating to SFA are being paused while a review is carried out.  

Following the release of the draft New Accommodation Offer policy, a petition has been launched to ask the government to review it and undertake further consultation with Service personnel before it is launched.
