A strong and independent voice for Army families

AFF gave evidence yesterday to the Armed Forces Pay Review Body (AFPRB) – the organisation which makes recommendations to the government on soldiers’ pay and allowances for 2026.

We used the evidence that you have given AFF over the last year – whether through asking us for help with issues affecting you and your family, or through completing our surveys – to tell the AFPRB how important it is to put families’ concerns at the centre of their recommendations.

We ensured that the AFPRB looked at all aspects of life as an Army family that affect family finances – housing, childcare, the employment experiences of spouses and partners, access to allowances, cost of living in different parts of the UK and the experiences of non-UK families.

AFF Head of Policy Rachel Smith gave evidence alongside representatives from the RAFFF and NFF.  She said: “It is incredibly important to represent the experiences of the Army family at the AFPRB, and we would like to thank everyone who has provided us with evidence – whether through one of AFF’s surveys or by speaking to us directly.

“Your input enables us to present an accurate picture of the current financial experiences of serving personnel and their families, helping the AFPRB to consider these lived realities in their decision-making.”
