AFF and FFJ’s work on show at conference

AFF Head of Policy Rachel Smith and Employment & Training Specialist Lucy Ritchie joined delegates at the MOD Covenant in the Community Conference at Winchester University.

AFF was invited to take part in the event on 23 and 24 October with a stall promoting Forces Families Jobs (FFJ).

There was an opportunity to talk to MOD representatives, local authority Covenant champions and other third sector and public sector professionals about the FFJ platform.

The discussions centred on how their organisations could become more involved and promote their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant by supporting spouses and partners of serving personnel with employment.

Rachel and Lucy were able to speak to delegates about the wider work of AFF, particularly the support offered for those about to transition out of the Army, and immigration advice to non-UK personnel and their families.

The conference heard from the MOD Covenant Team and Minister for People and Veterans Alistair Carns about the work taking place to enshrine the Armed Forces Covenant in law.
