Defence Committee publishes report on Service accommodation

The House of Commons Defence Committee has published its report on Service accommodation following an inquiry which began in 2023.

AFF gave evidence to the inquiry and supports the recommendations of the report, particularly the need for substantial and ongoing funding across the Defence estate, and further improvements in communication to Service personnel and their families.

Some of the report’s recommendations are already being trialled, including housing drop-in sessions across the country, and AFF will continue to push for long-term sustained and significant funding in Service accommodation.

The Government has now published its response to the report. AFF Chief Executive Collette Musgrave said: “We are pleased to see that the response outlines the steps being taken to improve the service to families. The recent buyback of homes from Annington gives an opportunity to improve military housing, which is a key part of the lived experience.”
