Light teal, sage green and other pastel tones will start to appear on SFA walls after DIO announced a new Defence Homes colour palette.
Families used to have to make sure they were returned to magnolia or white on move-out. But now there is a broader range of neutral colours to give military homes a personal touch. And it’s without the need to repaint afterwards.
The palette includes various shades of white, warm or cool neutrals and pale yellows, blues and greens. It doesn’t specify brands or types of paint.
Homes can still be painted in other colours that aren’t part of the scheme, although these will have to be returned to white when families leave.
The new Defence Homes colour palette also features ideas for interior styling and a practical guide for painting.

Earlier this year families were told they no longer needed written permission before bringing pets into their homes. The approvals process for running a business from home was streamlined. A promise was also made to provide them with clearer information and up-to-date floorplans before a move.
