Early Years programme open to applications

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust is accepting applications for grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 for projects that will help to enhance early childhood education and childcare settings, to meet the specific needs of young children from military families.

Who’s eligible?

To be eligible for the funding, the early years provider will need to offer group-based childcare and at least 50 per cent of the children registered should be from military families. You can apply for funding to:

  • expand capacity at the setting to allow more Service children to attend
  • improve learning environments for Service children and
  • provide suitable training and development of employees to support military children.

If the childcare provider has less than 50 per cent Armed Forces children registered, they can form a ‘cluster’ of two or more childcare providers. As a cluster, you can apply for funding for:

  • staff training with a military focus
  • funding for a shared resource, such as a roving Armed Forces early years support worker.

Local authorities and organisations providing specialised training for employees to support Service children can also apply.

When do I need to apply by?

There are two application deadlines, the first is noon on 24 July 2024 and the second is noon on 20 November 2024. For more details, please visit covenantfund.org.uk
