Families of military personnel who died while serving have been offered free rail travel to commemorations during Remembrance weekend.
One close family member – a spouse, partner, child, parent or sibling who is registered as the nominated next of kin – can take advantage of the scheme.
It’s the first time free travel has been offered to family members, and it matches the offer to Service personnel and veterans.
Important to know
- The deadline for applications is 16 October 2026.
- The next of kin listed on JPA is eligible to register for a ticket.
- All National Rail train operators are taking part. But the scheme does not include Transport for London, the Elizabeth Line and services in Northern Ireland.
- If you’re travelling to London your outward journey can be on Saturday 7 November or Remembrance Sunday 8 November. Your return journey must be on Remembrance Sunday.
- If you’re travelling to a Remembrance service outside London, both journeys must be on Remembrance Sunday.
