AFF’s communications team was recently invited to 3 (UK) Division’s Exercise Iron Titan to see the British Army’s largest land exercise for 20 years. We visited the Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) to speak to some of the 4,000 troops brought together across south-west England and south Wales.
It was a great opportunity for AFF to speak to a wide range of soldiers, who were keen for us to share their experiences.
One of their key feelings was how positive the exercise was in building camaraderie and allowing them to utilise the specialist skills they have been trained in. And several commented on the importance of making the training environment as realistic and demanding as possible – even if SPTA is on the doorstep for many. A more detailed article will be available in the next edition of Army&You, which will be published in January.
