New year, new you

As 2025 gets under way AFF turns its attention to new beginnings – whether that’s a job change or the range of courses you can take to boost your career.

We focus on sources of support if you’re struggling with debt and the rising cost of living, and how organisations signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant can help to ensure you’re not financially disadvantaged by mobile military life.

There is advice on what you can do if your child is due to go into primary or secondary school but you’re not sure where you’re going to be living. And we show where students from Army families can find support when they apply for a place at university.

New Electronic Travel Authorisation requirements were brought in at the start of January for visitors to the UK from several countries and more are planned for the spring. We’ll update you on those.

Survey results

We asked you to tell us how issues like the availability and cost of early years childcare affected your families and how that experience varied by location. This quarter we’ll show the results of that survey.
