Programme will help domestic abuse survivors in military community

Female survivors of domestic abuse are being offered the opportunity to learn more about how it has affected them through a course run specifically for serving personnel and family members.

The Athena Domestic Abuse Awareness Programme is organised by Aurora New Dawn and is open to women 18 and over, who are experiencing domestic abuse now or have done so in the past, including those who witnessed or suffered it as children.

It’s held online over eight sessions and covers controlling and abusive behaviour and building a support network, as well as providing a chance to talk with others who have gone through similar experiences.

The course starts on 3 June and runs at 6.30pm on Tuesday evenings via Zoom. To register call 02392 479254 or email armedforces@aurorand.org.uk

Aurora New Dawn recently launched a confidential helpline for Service personnel and family members.
