DIO reveals new move-in standards

Revised move-in standards to SFA have been announced by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation – and they are effective immediately.

The changes mean a return to the previous standard as well as several new specifications.

Hard flooring will be used downstairs instead of carpet when it has to be replaced, white paint for internal redecoration and vinyl flooring for all bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and utility rooms when replacement is needed, if floor tiles, or hard flooring are not already installed.

Families will also be able to leave up to four picture hooks per room at move-out without being charged.

Changes follow extra funding

DIO said one of the commitments of the Consumer Charter announced in April was to “provide a more robust move-in standard so that families can have confidence that the home they are moving into will be ready on time and will be clean and functional.”

The revision follows funding secured for this year and an added £1.5bn announced recently by the Defence Secretary to deliver longer-term and long-lasting improvements to SFA in the UK as part of the Strategic Defence Review.

Revised move-in and move-out standards are available on the Pinnacle website.

RTS meter switch-off

The technology that supports Radio Teleswitch electricity meters will switch off nationally from 30 June. Families in SFA equipped with these meters should receive a letter from their supplier to arrange an appointment to have a smart meter fitted before the switch- off.

Ofgem has more information, including how to check if you still have an RTS meter.
